Health

My laundry soap is made with just a few basic natural ingredients and does not irritate skin or lead to respiratory and other health problems. Read more. And more.

Environment

  • I pick up empties when dropping off full bottles. Some of the bottles in circulation are 9 years old!

  • I deliver locally once a week so my fuel use for transport is much less than laundry detergents from large companies.

  • Solar panels provide the energy needed to boil water while making the laundry soap.

  • The laundry sheets that come in cardboard packaging (earth breeze, tru-earth) are binded with micro-plastics. Read more.

Laundry Tips

I use Vinegar in place of fabric softener (in the washing machine). It softens clothes by rinsing away soap residue. Added benefit- it helps to keep your washer clean. It can also be used as a presoak for stains and mildew. Mix 1 cup vinegar with 1 gallon water, bring to boil on the stove, remove from heat and soak clothes before washing. You can also add some baking soda to this soak. A spray bottle for spot treating stains (sweat stains in particular) also works. Don't mix vinegar with bleach or peroxide.

Hydrogen peroxide is also a good stain fighter. I use it mainly for blood stains but it works on grease and sweat too. Pour it directly on stains or mix 1 cup peroxide with 2 cups water and add it to your laundry load at the beginning of the cycle or put it in the bleach part in your washer. Don't mix peroxide with bleach or vinegar.

Baking soda removes bacteria. I mainly use it in my towel loads but it's good for all extra dirty loads. You can use it in your washing machine, as a presoak or both. It works great with vinegar OR bleach as a booster for both.

If you have time and a laundry line, hanging clothes in the sun is a good natural way to get rid of mildew and bacteria and brighten your whites too.

Wool dryer balls with a few drops of your favorite essential oil will not only dry your clothes quicker, but it'll make your clothes smell good without harmful chemical smells.

Clean your washing machine every once in awhile. 2 cups vinegar in hot water without clothes will give it a good rinse.
