We got cedar board planks and it turned out to be really great for the weight of the van (super light!) and ease of installation. We painted the ceiling planks with a mix we made from leftover paint from different projects. We had some leftover stain from other projects for the wall planks. We used 1/2"x3" firring strips screwed into the metal frame for the wall framing. The planks came in 8' pieces so we cut them in 4', 2', and left some 8' to make the walls have staggered paneling. This process was pretty quick. The longest part being cutting holes for electric and seat belts.

We left holes in the back and front of the ceiling for ventilation. The front hole will be cut out to open up to the roof-top tent. The back hole will provide ventilation when the tent is up for the bed below.
